STELLAR WORKS FIRST FLATPACK CHAIR DESIGNED BY BASSAMFELLOWS
Stellar Works has collaborated with American design studio BassamFellows on Pagoda, a collection of chairs inspired by the simplicity of the café chairs of mid 19th century Vienna and the café culture of 1920s Shanghai. A modern take on a classic, the expertly constructed chair marries efficiency and comfort.
The chair’s circular seat takes inspiration from the “Way of Nature”, or concept of “oneness” in Chinese culture while its cantilevered, slightly upward curving arms and back subtly reference Pagoda gates, giving the chair its enveloping shape. A streamlined, yet thoughtfully reimagined silhouette lends the chair its distinct personality.
Pagoda is available in a variety of material finishes. The compact design has a structure that has been reduced to its very essence. Easy to ship and assemble, the flat pack chair consists of only six components - a curved seat, rounded back and four legs - delivering high quality craftsmanship and allowing a multitude of material configurations.
Speaking of Craig Bassam, BassamFellows’ Co-founder says:
"This project has allowed us to pave the way for something entirely new: A luxurious yet efficient design that minimizes material use, combined with ease of assembly. While quality and longevity is the hallmark of our studio, with Pagoda we have been able to push ourselves even further to combine the precision of industrial production with our love of craft. Stellar Works has been the perfect partner to bring this shared vision come to life.”
